European Commission, Brussels 2004 - 2007

'NuoviStilidiVita' [New Life Styles]

An experimental research, training and implementation project, fully funded by the European Union, the Italian Ministry of Labour and the Regione Lombardia and aiming to consolidate the networks of social economy

It has investigated and mapped these new forms of citizenship known as Networks of Solidarity Economy, developed a new set of financial analysis tools indicators set to improve their access to credit and facilitate the relationship with the conventional credit system; measured the value of social capital; studied the cooperative approach to finance; and tackled the issue of the financial and social exclusion of the social networks located in Lombardy. It also proposed the use of a complementary currency system

It counted among its partners some of the most important Italian and European players of ethical finance, was showcased by the European Commission and it is widely acknowledged as a reference tool by the European solidarity economy networks

Its policies of mutuality and the territorial approach share the foundation claims of Islamic Finance and represent a source of inspiration at a time when the relations with the Western ethical finance attract more and more the attention of the Shariah scholars
