Home finance in I

In Italy first-home buying by immigrants is expanding quickly even if only a tiny percentage of demand is satisfied. Pent-up demand - mainly for religious and cultural reasons - has a high statistical value

ASSAIF has devised a number of contractual instruments that can be used under the Italian civil code by consumers interested in financing a home purchase in a Shariah-compliant way. They allow for the optimization of the financial, fiscal and managerial efficiency. In December 2006, ASSAIF has managed the first murabaha transaction ever concluded in Italy

The Sharia-compliant 'Real Estate Investment Trusts' have the potential to become a viable investment alternative on condition of having a regulatory framework universally accepted; a Sharia consensus on classes of assets, the possibility of cross border trading and a favorable tax legislation that addresses above all the double taxation issue
